New Horizon Counseling Center Addiction Recovery programs are licensed by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse to treat substance abuse by offering to help all individuals whose lives are affected by addiction. The program offers a full range of services to adolescents and adults including individual, group, marital, psychiatric and family therapy. We also offer a wide array of specialty services.
Treatment sessions provide education about the disease of addiction, exploring the familial, social, physical, and medical consequences of substance use. Topics addressed include abstinence skills, relapse prevention, anger management, conflict resolution, improving self-esteem, goal setting, and increasing sober socialization.
Treatment begins with an evaluation and intake screening appointment. At this meeting, an extended history is taken allowing the staff to develop an individualized treatment plan. Generally, clients begin treatment within one week of this appointment.
Adolescent Services incorporate a multifaceted approach to aid the adolescent in recognizing the negative impact of their substance use and to promote a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle. We help adolescents ages 13-18 years old, who are currently using or experimenting with drugs and alcohol. Family involvement is an essential component of our services through which parents receive education and support and develop the skills necessary to support their child’s recovery.
